Back Pain and Pregnancy
- Women who are pregnant often go through a number of different problems, but the one that can affect them the most is back pain and pregnancy combined. The good news is that there are a number of different ways to help relieve the back pain, and make life a lot more comfortable for you during this time. When you gain weight during pregnancy it’s not unusual for you to start walking in new ways that often put stress on muscles and ligaments that you are not used to using.
- One of the first things to start doing as soon as you know you are pregnant, and before you even start to gain any weight, is to learn how to stand and sit properly. The sooner you start to do this, the more accustomed your body will become to using different muscle groups, and it will become a learned behavior by the time you really need it. It’s also a good idea when sitting to put something under your feet, in order to reduce the strain on you lower back area. If you need to stand for long periods of time for your job, then consider using a foot stool and alternate putting one foot on it to take the pressure off your back.
- If your back problems are due to problems you have had for some years, many doctors recommend a natural alternative treatment such as Flexcin CM8. This product is perfect for pregnant woman as it is 100 per natural and addresses the issue of inflammation that can be part of your problem. It also has glucosamine and chondroitin in it so that it helps to keep your bones strong and your joints and ligaments healthy. It will reduce inflammation in muscles that are being strained by the extra weight you are gaining.
- There are also exercises that you can do to help relieve back pain and pregnancy issues that arise. One of the best ones is pelvic tilt exercises. It’s important to do them at least a couple of times a day. While you’re lying in bed in the morning or at night is the perfect time to work these into your schedule. You simply pull in on your abdomen and then arch your spine up and toward you. Repeating this five time in the morning and at night and gradually working up to 10 each time will do a lot to help your back issues. You can also try stretching exercises, which will stretch out the back muscles and then relax them.
- Many women also get relief by using heat to help relax the back muscles. You can use a heating pad or take a long soak in a hot bath. On the other hand you may get a lot of benefit from alternating between heat and cold packs. Needless to say, having your partner rub your back with soothing aromatherapy oils will also give you a lot of relief. If your back pain and pregnancy issues persist, you can try sleeping on your side with your knees bent toward you. Also consider using a pillow that you put between your knees. Some women find they get a lot of relief by using a full body pillow.
- Keeping your back in top shape can go a long way to making your delivery go much easier. Many doctors recommend that women do exercises during their entire pregnancy. These will help to strengthen their abdominal muscles. These are the muscles that will be used during delivery, and the stronger they are the easier the delivery will be. Doing exercise in water is a perfect way to build up those muscles and not have to worry about the impact on your joints. The stronger and healthier you keep you back during your pregnancy will go a long way in helping with delivery, but also in helping you to lose the weight you’ve gained after deliver.
